Bizarre, Furry Kiwi Bird Gets a Closer Look

With its tiny wings and fur-like feathers, the North Island brown kiwi looks more like a mammal. Scientists at the Smithsonian Conservation and Biology Institute in Virginia are studying this odd bird—considered vulnerable in the wild—to improve zoo habitat and better care for kiwi chicks and adults.

Yuki The Talking Shiba Inu

This is a series of video clips showing some of Yuki's tricks. She is a Shiba Inu. We spend a lot of time working with her every day. We've been teaching he some words and phenoms. She greets us at the door with a "Hello", "Redrum" is another. She also demonstrates "Exorcist" where she throws her head around in a circle; and "Stick Em Up" & "Spread Em" where she puts her hands in the air and then goes spread eagle against a wall.

Meerkats v Basket

As part of the groups daily enrichment I put a wicker basket lid into the enclosure and let mealworms weave in and out before letting the Meerkats in to enjoy their treat ... not expecting for them to 'mob' the strange object they were faced with!

Playing With A Friendly Platypus
